Our farmhouse, our hospitality, our cuisine and Barbera d’Asti wine
We refurbished a traditional farmhouse in the Piedmont region, then in October 2013, we turned it into farm stay accommodation. It’s located in Agliano Terme, in the Monferrato zone, steeped in resources and traditions.
If you’ve never been amongst the rolling hills of Piedmont, a farm stay gives you the chance to really enjoy the traditions of the Monferrato countryside. This way you can get to know the locals, who have preserved some of their ancient farming customs, with a wealth of symbols and meanings in their farming skills and in the kitchen, the heart of all their daily routines.
We decided we wanted to share our home with new friends from all over the world, and at the same time, we sought to preserve the main features of the original building.
We can accommodate up to 10 guests in the bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. We also recently converted the former barn into a studio apartment that sleeps up to 3 people, with cooking facilities and en-suite bathroom.
These are furnished in typical Piedmont style so you get a real feel of the original farmhouse with brick vault ceilings and the old barn with exposed timber beams.
The shared parts of the home – dining room, living room, den, large kitchen, garden and patio with its picturesque views of the fields and vineyards – are friendly, relaxing environments where you can hang out on your own, or with family or friends to recharge your batteries and build up your wellbeing.
In summer, when it’s hot, you can visit the outdoor swimming pool at Agliano Terme.
You can also take a tour of our chicken run, find out all about each species we raise on our farm ̶ mainly chickens, ducks, geese, quails and rabbits ̶ and collect the eggs. Or why not take a stroll in the vineyards, and see what’s growing in our kitchen garden.
Of course, you’ll have to meet and greet our sheep, too.
We use our own produce or food sourced from the surrounding farmlands to prepare our healthy, tasty, genuine traditional Piedmont cuisine, and that goes for breakfast too.
MEALS ARE MAINLY OFFERED TO OVERNIGHT GUESTS
From October, our dishes can be paired with the very fine white truffle found by our truffle hunter friends, who you’ll also get the opportunity to meet.
Actually, if you’re interested you might like to go truffle hunting with them and their dogs, along the hidden paths in the search for this precious fungus.
In winter, we serve meals in the bright and cheery dining room, warmed up by the open fire. When it gets warmer, we move out onto the patio to soak up the views of the fields and hills around us.
We’ll arrange the menu with you a few days before you arrive; that way, we can guarantee fresh products.
A menu accompanied by a truly excellent wine: Barbera d’Asti.
Indeed, Agliano Terme is located right in the heart of the territory where Barbera d’Asti, Barbera d’Asti Superiore and Nizza wines are produced.
We are surrounded by some of the zone’s most prestigious winemakers: we will be happy to tell you which wine estates you can visit to taste the most exquisite nectar of the gods.
